Pure Saturation

Saturation of colors is also a huge trend that is following into spring here in San Francisco. Walking through Polk today I saw a woman wearing a bunch of different patterns from stripes to hounds tooth yet, oddly enough, her outfit as a whole was very fashionable. She looked chic yet funky, just the way I'd like to think of my style.
I really find that most of the people here in San Francisco really obtain a personal style that is all their own. Maybe, this is true for every individual in the world but San Francisco has history and it also has fashion week! From street punks to hippies to hipsters to yuppies, everyone in SF has a style that is all their own.

Remember theTights

That's tight! Tights are everywhere in every district in every color in San Francisco! From bright hot pinks to royal blues, you won't be able to make up your mind whether you're buying them from Nordstrom or Therapy a boutique in The Mission. Either way you'll be able to find a pair of tights to fit your fashions.

Denim Craze

Denim, a classic. Who doesn't wear denim these day? Denim is a huge trend especially designer denim from brands like Stitch, Citizens of Humanity, Seven For all Mankind, Hudson, and Paige. From dark washes to shine and fades, skinny jeans to wide leg, low waisted to high waisted, all of the styles are currently trendy right now. Fit and length is what is most important right now. The high waist is also a very fashionable trend right now although some may be afraid to try it because it may seem out of the ordinary, but I swear when you do you'll wear them forever. Some other brands that are also very fashionable are Cheap Monday and Nudie Jeans. I have seen tons and tons of women and men in this brand and the fit is amazing and so are the varieties of washes and styles.

The Messenger

If you live in San Francisco you'll at least see four of the same type of messenger bag a day. Brands like Timbuk2 and Chrome must be making good sales at the moment because i think almost everyone in SF own one of them! Whether you're a biker or a business man you'll see all types of people with these bags all around San Francisco. Ok, ok I own one too so I can't be too harsh. The chrome bags are so comfortable and easy to take of and on when on Muni as well. They're also good for my school books and laptop too, so I can side with all of those who own one.

Risky Business!

Thanks to Tom Cruise and his boxers the Ray-Bans trend was born in 1983. Whether you've seen this flick or not Ray-Bans are definitely back in style. If it wasn't for Tom Cruise and The Blues Brothers these Wayfarer Ray-Bans wouldn't have even come into style let alone come back in a second time. Stars and celebs are even wearing them today from Kathrine Heigl, Nicole Richie, to Paris Hilton and the Olsen Twins. The Wayfarer Ray-Bans fit almost every type of style from boho to antique chic Ray-Bans are a hot new item to invest in today, and not to mention a classic.

Where's Your Other Earing?

So it seems as though missing one earing has indeed become quite the trend. So for all of you who've lost one of your favorite earrings, just wear it! Whether your earing is a stud, pendent, feather, hoop, or chandelier, have no fear because it is slowly but surely becoming a trend, maybe even possibly a fad. If you'd like to "stand out" or have people think you lost one of your earing, go for it.

The Mission: Buy Moccasins!

Is it a coincidence that I see tons of females in The Mission district wearing moccasins because The Mission was built over a Native American burial land, are they just trying to show their respects? Either that or moccasins are a huge trend. From Marc Jacobs designs to authentic vintage pairs, these shoes are everywhere yet most likely in The Mission District. You'll find these moccasins in bright colors to black, yet the most common color I've found is the original tan/brown.

What's Life without Love? What's Love without Haight?

Life would be a little more boring, let me tell you! The Haight is a central hangout spot for teens, college students, and young adults today as well as retail and restaurant haven. Yet it still has the vibes and style of the 1960's and 1970's from flower power, peace, love and happiness. The colorful hair-do's, graffiti art, paisley prints, independent retailers, and smoke shops keep the spirit alive. It's 18 blocks of pure fun. From skate stores like FTC to trendy retail shops like Ambiance, Aardvarks, and American Apparel, theres something for everyone. Food, smoke shops, retail shops, bar, and restaurants, what more do you need?

I Love My Grandpa

From top designer creations of the Grandpa Cardigan to thrift store finds, the Grandpa Cardigan is a huge trend, male and female, conservative or liberal, young or old. Just walking through the Marina and North Beach today I saw at least five women wearing them. I saw one belted, buttoned, loose and unbuttoned, etc. This design is very versatile in the sense that it can go with really any personal taste from boho, hipster, to oxford conservative.

Art and Fashion?

With this genuine idea I don't find it hard for many teenagers and young adult these days to catch on. Rebel8 is one of the more popular brands of street wear for those associated with it.

Turn on the Tubes

As I was walking around The Mission last night and I really noticed a lot of people wearing tube socks. Men and women, girls and guys... Tube socks have gained popularity since the American Apparel trend came into play years ago. I saw one male with them pulled up to his knee caps, girls wearing thigh highs with skirts, females with the socks pulled out of their boots. Who knew you do so much with a simple pair of socks.

What's all the HUF About?

Sneakers, sneakers, and more sneakers... Huf isn't just a specialty shoe store it is part of an ever growing culture located in Hayes Valley of SF, of course. From stores like True, Shoe Biz, etc...

All of these specialty shops carry shoes from Vans, Alife, to Nike. And it's all a part of either punk rock culture to hip hop.

What the Fedora?

Although Hipsters are in almost every central city such as SF, LA, NY, New Jersey, etc. I think San Francisco has it's own unique flair and attitude. You see most people wearing fedoras in districts like The Mission, The Haight, Polk St., and Hayes Valley. This trend is youthful, stylish, and predominately hipster.

The Silent Protester

If you didn't know: those scarves that you've seen all over San Francisco and the Bay Area aren't just trend forsaken. For those of you that are a little late to the game these scarves are actually a sign of protest. These scarves are a sign of anti-war activism. So if you just purchased one because you think it's cute, think again, you're a silent protester! So if you're a true conservative you might want to sell your scarf to Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads, or Wasteland, or maybe just give it away.

From Haight St. vendors to Urban Outfitters these scarves are everywhere, and just about everyone all genders all sexes, in almost every district seems to be wearing them.

You'll Get the Boot!

If you're a San Francisco resident you'll know what I'm talking about. Raise your mouse or lap top if you've ever seen various females throughout San Francisco wearing those damn vintage boots. (Hey, I'm guilty of it too.) Not only are these boots a street wear craze but people are even purchasing them off of E-bay! Or maybe thats just me. Either way these boots go with any look in my opinion from skirt to dress to denim, tucked in or out. Whether you bought them from Aldo, Wasteland, E-bay, or Neiman Marcus... These boots were made for walkin' all over San Francisco!

L G B T Q: Clothing Optional?

Welcome to the Castro the most flamboyant district in the fabulous city of San Francisco. From the bright colors of the rainbow to the colorful make-up on transsexuals etc... A vibrant and visual statement. Essentially the home to the gay rights movement, The Castro is known the world over as the gay neighborhood in the gayest city in the United States.

Why is it when I go out in The Castro I get more drinks paid for me by gay men, than when I go out to "straight" bars. Maybe it's because we all share some sort of love for fashion? Or maybe The Bar On Castro serves 80 cent drinks, either way The Castro is not only fashion forward but it seems to me that most of the residents are the friendliest compared to any other district.

Stop the Haight!

Remember when The Haight used to be a drug haven for all of the hippies in the 1960's? ME NEITHER. Although it was fairly before my time, of course I still get the vibe of The Haight's atmosphere, psychedelic, 420 enthusiastic, and mellow. From street punks to hippies, the fashion attitude in The Haight is carefree and adventurous where the old is revered and the new is criticized. Just taking a stroll throughout The Haight you'll experience all kinds of personal styles, from bright pink wigs and fishnet stocking to full-sleeve tattoos and original vans tennis shoes, or even the original street punk leather jacket and worn denim jeans.

I Left My Heart in San Francisco

It's true folks I have. Although, I am still living here... Visiting all of the districts in San Francisco can be quite a trip. From the hipsters in Dolores Park located in the Mission District to the enclosed and creepy stroller ladies in the Marina District, every district in SF has it's flairs and fashions from yuppies to hippies San Francisco has something to offer your taste as well as your style.
